The poster represents a historic New Year's Eve concert by the Grateful Dead at Oakland Coliseum in 1987. According to the background information, this was one of Phil Cushway's earliest posters. It was designed by Hugh Brown and produced as part of Cushway's strategy to publish more mainstream groups, beginning with the Grateful Dead. Initially, Cushway had created a version without listing the band's name due to name and likeness issues, then approached Winterland (who held Grateful Dead licensing rights) to establish a business relationship. Both versions were printed at Tea Lautrec on a one-color press.
