This job was passed along to me by the Tyler Childers crew. It’s always fun to switch up my routine with a musician outside of the jam scene, however, this one had one little speedbump. They loved my initial concept, however they had one request… a portrait (dun dun dunnnnn). I’ll be honest, I thought about turning the job down right there and then. I had never done a portrait before other than a few charcoal drawings in college. And those were hardly the quality anyone would hang on their wall. However, lately I’ve been facing my internal fear of “I can’t draw that” and pushing myself artistically. They provided great resource material and after 10 to 12 edits we finally nailed it in! Honestly, I’m very proud of how it turned out. Will I do another portrait anytime soon? Hopefully not.
Oh, and this is my first poster for a show at Madison Square Garden! Time to update the ol’ resume.
