About this poster
This is my fourth poster for Dirty Heads, which I'm honored by! For this one, I wanted to tip my hat to 70's sci fi/horror movie posters. As a starting point, I knew I wanted to tie together the iconic Dirty Heads octopus with some sort of cryptid creatures. Although I'm a skeptic, I have always had a strong fascination with UFO sightings. It seemed like a perfect fit! From there I decided I would create a poster of a giant octopus in Lake Michigan fighting off these ancient trans-medium UFOs. Although I worked rather loosely with the key line illustration, I wanted to capture as many details as possible, from the tiny pyramid UFOs in the background sky to the subtle waves crashing over the band name. I had a blast creating this one and I'm stoked on how it turned out!
