About this poster
Jack White liked the Paul Reubens poster so much that he suggested a follow-up for the second night featuring Cassandra Peterson. With Twin Temple opening, it felt like a natural macabre match.
Paul Reubens and Cassandra Peterson were longtime friends dating back to their days with The Groundlings, and their respective fandoms have always shared plenty of overlap. Jack and Cassandra are close friends as well, creating a fitting triangular connection across the two posters.
The concept continues a lyric from Jack’s “Raising the Grain,” inspired in part by the famous Vampira vs. Elvira lawsuit. The idea being that these characters are defined by far more than their appearance—it’s their personalities that make them unmistakable.
The artist grew up with Elvira posters on the wall and taped Movie Macabre on VHS. Decades later, the opportunity to put Cassandra Peterson herself on a poster brought that connection full circle.
