About this poster
Had the honor of creating last nights poster for @grahamelesh and friends at the @capitoltheatre for the second year in a row of Unbroken Chain, celebrating the life and music of the legendary @phillesh
I leaned into the Cap’s mascot, squirrels!They were included in Thomas Lambs original 1926 architectural design and can be found in the wallpaper and carvings throughout the venue’s interior.
In my illustration, the decorative arch in the tree is directly inspired by those gilded carvings. To tie it back to Phil and the Dead, the central pair of squirrels are in the same musical poses as the iconic turtles on the Terrapin Station album cover and the big oak tree trunk forms the Dead’s Stealie logo.
