About this poster
I’ve seen a lot of chatter around this one, and people have been asking about the meaning behind the art. From the start, I knew I wanted to do something inspired by If the Sun Never Rises Again. The lyrics conjured so many images for me — “starlight in our eyes,” “eyes in the moonlight.” I had just finished watching Sinners, so vampires were definitely on the brain.
Then it hit me: “Why can’t the night never end?”
Vampires became the perfect metaphor for what it feels like when a significant relationship ends, yet lingers in your subconscious. Part of your soul remains wrapped up in those memories.
Their lack of reflection symbolized both their identity as vampires and the absence of something that once was. The bitten couple lies still, but they’ll eventually turn into creatures of the night. I wanted that to represent a flicker of hope — the idea that love might return, just in another form.
Also, someone caught a silly little Easter egg I hid (last slide) — I didn’t think anyone would notice. Shoutout to you! I can’t not imagine a music video now — a romantic story between two vampires. I mean look at these lyrics…I still don’t know why you let me in. Were you just lonely? Did you need a friend? “Let me in”! Vampire"
