About this poster
I'm honored to have created the poster for Jack White first-ever show at Pine Knob. Like many, I grew up going to shows there and even cut my teeth snowboarding on those hills.
For the concept, I was trying to find a way to make it feel like Pine Knob while staying true to the Detroit roots of all the bands performing. I was reading a bedtime story with my kids that featured a cross-section of an ant hill, and it clicked. It felt like a great visual for Detroit's underground music scene... and its a hill! I set off researching ant hill cross-sections and stumbled across some vintage ads and packaging for the Uncle Milton Ant Farm. I mixed that inspiration up in my own way and landed on what you see here.
The underground tunnels feature some of the venues that JW and so many other bands came up through.
