About this poster

This piece draws inspiration from a pair of Simpson’s songs and a few haunting lines from a short poem penned by the artist. It tells the story of a strange girl and her even stranger companions—most notably, the enigmatic "Boney Man."

“She hung about the Boney Man
as if she couldn't understand
No comfort hides in hungry hands
His greatest gift is Taking.”

Themes of eerie affection, danger disguised as comfort, and the allure of the unknowable echo throughout the composition. The imagery would later reappear in the limited edition art print Hungry Hands, a visual sibling to this original work.
