About this poster
Here’s a look at the two pen-and-ink originals that went into creating the poster! This project began in a much different place than where it ended, but the trio of magicians remained at the core. I wanted to create an asymmetrical composition that still felt well-balanced, weighing the three characters against the left-leaning text; I couldn’t tell you the last time I did text that *wasn’t* perfectly centered in a piece. The Dead’s classic Uncle Sam inspired the jackets and tophats but with a vintage Vegas rework, and the rabbit out of the hat swapped with a bear looking for a miracle. I took my time (procrastinated) on the linework because I thought I would be keeping the background simple… a miscalculation that later cost me many, many nights of sleep.
