About this poster
In 2004, the artist issued a limited-edition reproduction of this Bob Marley poster in response to the circulation of unauthorized and fraudulent copies being sold online. The reprint was produced as the only official and authenticated reproduction of the original design.
The project also allowed the artist to correct perceived shortcomings in the original 1978 printing, which had been produced without the artist present at the press run and resulted in colors that were less saturated than the original artwork. For the reissue, the poster was digitally recreated under the artist’s direct supervision using the original artwork preserved from the initial production.
Unlike mass-produced Bob Marley posters created by commercial poster companies, this edition was reconstructed directly from the original source art by the original designer. The torn-paper background motif was intentionally incorporated to signify the piece as a “reincarnation” of the original image, symbolizing its rebirth from the original artwork.
