About this poster
I was honored to be asked to create this one of a kind, as part of “Specially commissioned artist posters”, throwback poster for the beloved Canadian band The Tragically Hip commemorating their show at CBGB’s on Jan 4th, 1993. It was super cool to research and go back in time not only to the band’s history, songs and one of their most iconic albums, but also get to draw CBGB’s and the East Village in it’s heyday. A place I frequented often during my time living in NYC. This poster featuring prominently an East Village punk pigeon and his camera, is littered with easter eggs and homages to the band and their lyrics. True fans should be able to spot them!
