About this poster
My poster art for last nights @arcticmonkeys show in Belfast, Ireland. A lot of their poster art leans more into the abstract/geometric styles, so I thought it would be fun to give that a try in my own way and also kinda inspired by the Bauhaus design school styles. I set up some guidelines in Illustrator and started drawing shapes and letting them fall into place using those guides (see process tab). Took that and brought into photoshop and had some fun with it to add the gradients and grain (kinda like airbrushing), using the shapes and color areas I blocked out in illustrator. The end result was something I couldn’t imagine, but allowing the process to guide me there led to the final design. It was very meditative to create in that aspect, just letting whatever comes flow through instead of having a predetermined concept for a final image.
