In my imagination
I am beyond honored to share the poster I made for David Byrne playing in Vegas last night.
I am a huge David Byrne/Talking Heads fan, so my mind went a million different places with concepts and inspiration. I decided I wanted to keep it minimal, but still feel alive…letting color and the endless desert/sunny sky on that road to nowhere into Vegas do most of the work instead of overloading it with detail. His music has always had a certain energy to it that I wanted to tap into here. Using minimalism ideas and inspiration as a strength and base to color with your own life.
There’s also a personal side to this one. I have never shared this publicly, but, being on the spectrum, I’ve felt a connection and appreciation with how Byrne just is. No sanding things down, no trying to fit into something more “normal”, just leaning fully into what makes him different and turning that into the whole point. Have fun making art and spreading love. It can be hard fitting into this world, but David is a beacon of light that shines brilliantly.
That’s something I’m always trying to get better at in my own work and life too. Not over correcting, not second-guessing the instinct...just following it and seeing where it goes.
