About this poster
This piece was based off of the first song I ever heard from The Smashing Pumpkins, 1979. As I listen to the tune and the words, I close my eyes and build a stage. The 1st line hits, “Shakedown 1979, cool kids never have the time, on a live wire right off the street”...
I continue to build my stage, as the words continue to dance in my head. The main character takes the stage as I set the world beneath him. A young boy without a care, erects his craft, with imagination as his fuel, the lights and town below, faster than the speed of sound, faster than he thought he’d go. Disregarding that someday, his bones will rest to dust, absorbed to the earth below. A cool kid, restless without a care, not knowing the rules, no apologies to be made. With the headlights pointing to the dawn, he is sure he’ll never see an end to it all.
