About this poster
Charlatans bandleader George Hunter drew the lettering on the top half of this poster. The funky and humorous band drawing of the Charlatans on this poster was done by Michael Ferguson. Ferguson’s drawing was reprised on Family Dog Denver FD-D2 “Haw Haw” described on page 202 of the King guide (12th ed). Rick Griffin drew the California Hall lettering at the bottom. Note his nod to Victor Moscoso’s lettering on poster FD-46 “Dance of the Five Moons”, from February 1967. Moscoso’s inventive font on FD-46 influenced many other SF poster artists of the time. - DL
