About this poster
"Back in 2010, I was commissioned to create a poster for Pearl Jam's concert in Hartford, Connecticut. The one request was that the poster be made with the city's history in mind. So, I opted to re-create this scene from Mark Twain's "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" since Twain had lived in Hartford when the book was written.
Norman Rockwell illustrated the whitewashing scene for the original 1936 edition of the book. I made the simple change from whitewashing the fence to wheat pasting a poster. (I actually searched for hours on the web to make sure this idea hadn't been done before. To my surprise, no one had!) Note the punk rock names for good ol' Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn. ‘T-Bomb’ Sawyer shows ‘Chuckles’ Barry Finn the fun and fine art of wheat pasting fences'." - JH
The artist later released Wheat Paste, Post Haste, an art print featuring a similar design.
