About this poster
"This poster was for their summer show at BB&T pavilion, right across the river from Philly - because of that location it kinda took me a bit to get the concept down. It’s a philly crowd, but the venue itself is technically in New Jersey.
So for this gig, I widened the scope a little bit. I spent a lot of time driving around philly and new jersey going to trade shows and shit like that, I spent even more time at the late night diners in the surrounding areas. The first draft saw a vintage diner in a more forested area, but the trees were quickly swapped out for the philly skyline. I was about halfway through the linework when I switched the skyline out for the Ben Franklin bridge, which is probably one of my favorite elements of the piece. That bridge connects Philly to Camden, so I felt that to be a perfect fit. The license plate also reads “EVRYDY” - which is an easter egg that literally no one has spotted yet. It’s pretty hard to see on the actual print, but it’s there.
And a fun fact! - the diner sign with the firedancer is a pretty direct play off the Melrose Diner sign - a relatively iconic south Philly diner. Check it out, they have good pancakes." - LM
