What is Foil Stamping?

Foil stamping transfers foil onto a surface using pressure and, depending on the process, heat. It can create highly reflective areas that stand apart from standard ink. This differs from printing directly onto foil paper stock, which is a separate production method.

Foil is commonly used as a specialty treatment on limited poster editions. Gold, silver and other finishes can be used to emphasize specific areas of the artwork.
