Cloud Tree was founded by artist and furniture maker Brian David Johnson. Along with the help of his sister Laura Lynn Johnson, in the beginning of 2016 Brian refurbished the old quonset hut, re-located his Splinter Group workshop of 15 years and established the gallery space with lofted studios above. The namesake for the space is the canopy of an old live oak that floats out over east 5th nearby, long admired by Brian and dubbed the cloud tree. The space's mission is to be a vibrant and diverse cultural location and warm gathering place to not only showcase great work, but provide an affordable venue for performance, community and other celebrations.
