About this poster
Created by the artist during the summer of 2001, prior to the September 11 attacks. The poster was reportedly never officially released due to its controversial subject matter.
The artwork depicts several historic disasters and ominous scenes, including the Battle of Gettysburg, the sinking of the Titanic, the Grim Reaper, and a fictional scene showing Godzilla destroying the Sears Tower alongside a passenger airliner. Following the September 11 attacks, elements of the imagery took on an unintended resemblance to the destruction of the World Trade Center.
An edition of 420 was reportedly printed, with copies distributed privately by the artist rather than through a public release. Some copies are also reported to have been lost or destroyed during Hurricane Katrina.
