Billy Strings Fishers 26 Status Serigraph (AE) - Lava Foil Edition/3-Print Set
About this poster
I’ve been watching this dude shred guitar strings since about 2017, and to see how high he keeps raising the bar each year is a real pleasure to witness.
This time around Billy and his amazing team asked me to create a triptych for a run of shows in my birth state of Indiana. I’ve lived in Tennessee for most of my life, but was born in Indiana and have spent a lot of time there visiting family, seeing shows and enjoying the beautiful rolling hills and farmland.
When this project came across my plate I had one thing in mind, keep away from the typical themes that get used in Indiana posters. So I did some research and looked for interesting things I may not know about or experienced in the greater Indy area. At some point I came across the Twisted Tree sculpture in the ARTSPARK created by the late John McNaughton. This beloved sculpture got my brain clicking and I decided a fun way to represent this run would be a community of twisted houses, each one with its own unique characteristics. That was where I started…
We’ll show week came and as most of you know Billy had a slight accident and broke his leg skateboarding backstage… a plan was set to do a little screen print makeover to fix the prints to include the new dates… but we had a little fun with that. In the new layers I added some skateboards to add to the fun. The rooster blasting out of the window, and the tall dude getting ready to head out and rip on his deck.
Needless to say this has been one of my more memorable projects of my career given the nature of it, and I’m stoked to share it with you all!
