About this poster
The text engraved on the monument is a poignant quote from Metallica's instrumental track "To Live Is to Die" (from their 1988 album ...And Justice for All):
"When a man lies, he murders some part of the world. These are the pale deaths which men miscall their lives. All this I cannot bear to witness any longer."
These lines are notoriously known by fans as the only spoken lyrics in the song, adapted from pieces of poetry written by Metallica's late bassist, Cliff Burton, before his passing.
