The Hungry Hands image originated as a concert poster designed by Jermaine Rogers for Sturgill Simpson’s 2025 performance in Berkeley, California. The composition centers on the “Boney Man,” a haunting figure drawn from Rogers’ accompanying poem, whose imagery serves as a symbolic warning. The poem’s lines — “No comfort hides in hungry hands / His greatest gift is Taking” — inform the visual narrative, emphasizing themes of desire, loss, and consequence. The design was later released as the standalone art print titled Hungry Hands.
