About this poster
The first new work of the big 2026 is for none other then @davematthewsband & @timreynoldstr3 for their annual ‘Dave & Tim’ Mexico show, specifically tomorrow’s show, in sunny Cancun, Mexico!!
I love working Dave & Co, and have done a few posters a year for the last 5 or so years - but I’ve never been able to crack into their annual boogies down in Mexico, which I know are always fans’ favorite shows to hit, and have always wanted to get my hat in the sandy ring… so I was STOKED when the DMB team asked if I’d want to jump on one of the prints for this year’s iteration.
My initial sketch was inspired by vintage postcards for Cancun, featuring a sweeping view of the coast (including hills and small mountains, which is how those came to be here!), local flora, and a fun vintage script - while working in some of the incredible Mayan pyramids from the region and massive fire dancer statues towering above and untouched by time.
After finishing up the piece and sending it over we found that it was still missing an extra bit of “oomf”, which is when the idea of UFO’s was tossed in - at first I was skeptical on if they’d fit within the piece, but then hatched the idea of having the UFO’s being the ones to build the pyramids and statues in the scene, which is when things clicked and we were off to the races on getting it to the final piece y’all see now. I’m super stoked on how it came out, and I hope y’all dig it too!!
