About this poster
On January 13, 1967, The Charlatans played the first of two shows at San Francisco’s Avalon Ballroom with Moby Grape and The Sparrow (later Steppenwolf). Titled Moby Grape, this is the 43rd poster in the Family Dog series. Designed by Alton Kelley and Stanley Mouse, the artwork features actress Alla Nazimova in an unused photographic still by Arthur Rice from the 1923 silent film Salome.
Issued in conjunction with the Moby Grape Family Dog poster, this postcard was produced in three versions, each measuring approximately 5″ × 7″. The OPC-A Type A postcard features a completely blank back.
