Alabama Shakes Austin 25 Race (AP) - Regular Edition

Incredibly honored again to present more new work for the legends THE @alabama_shakes , this time for their show in Austin, TX tonight!
I know I mentioned my love for the shakes in my last post, and how the last piece was directly inspired by sound & color specifically - so when coming up with the idea for my second poster on this tour, I really wanted to try to focus on the *feeling* and *vibe* of their tunes, and I kept coming back to the feeling on a Saturday night with friends, out at your favorite dive bar, with their music playing in the background and the countless memories that accompany that specific scenario. I also had a specific request from the band - to incorporate a small mouth bass into a piece, so this was the brain child of those two things mashed together.
I wanted to really nail the overall energy of a neighborhood dive as well as Austin, so I dug deep in my years of memories at various dives from the last however many years, and incorporated some of my favorite things. Through this I got to finally include a rubber duck into a piece (shoutout @lakesideloungebna here in Nash for being the first bar I won a duck at after moving here - this cowboy duck lives on my car’s dash), my favorite drinking game from college, a whole heap of Easter eggs, some very hard to kill plants that could actually live on the back of a bar, and a super tiny cowboy on the bucking small mouth jumping up and out of a cold one.
So incredibly stoked on this one, I got to get super fun and weird with it - and hopefully captured that, through music and community, both local dives and the shakes bring countless people together to make memories and share a drink (and chicken tenders and rubber ducks, from personal experience.). Shoutout to @vahalla for yet again knocking these out of the park, they look incredible in person!!
The band will have these available tonight at the show, and I’ll have both reg and foil AP’s available on Saturday, Sept 27th, at 12 NOON CT - along with the Pitt Shakes AP’s and a few Mt. Joy print releases. Until then - thank you so much for being here!!
