About this poster
I always like to have my poster art in some way connected to nature, and the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs seemed like an obvious choice to depict in. The landscapes there are just stunning. In doing a little research I also discovered the legend of the "Slide-Rock Bolter" a cryptid monster that lives on steep mountain slopes, especially in Colorado. That seemed like a fun idea to try and explore and combine with the Garden of the Gods landscape. I've been lucky enough to do a bunch of Dirty Heads posters and in keeping with my tradition over the last few years of doing something a little different and pushing my process a bit, this is the first screen printed poster where I've explored using CMYK process printing. For those unfamiliar, it's a technique that uses color overlays very similar to a traditional computer printer in order to achieve the illusion of a much larger spectrum of color on the paper.
