Chapter 1: "Frog King"
Once upon a time... mmm 40 days ago exactly.
(Regarding that last post) I was invited to design the official poster of Primus in Chile where they pay tribute to one of my favorite bands in life "Rush" with the Tribute to Kings Tour where Primus plays the complete "Farewell to kings". The concept of this illustration started from the first phrase of the theme "Closer to the heart" of this same album... and says: ”And the men who hold high places, Must be the ones who start To mold a new reality Closer to the heart”. This cross with the Kings world plus the Primus character universe and see what happens. Starting with the King's pose, the first one that came to mind was Louis XIII (King Sun). His portrait always caught my eye. He came to the throne of France when he was five years old and had more than 70 years of reign that better than to put a frog's head (Transformation) on it and give up his heart and crown. But not only that, it had to be on a threshold of decay and not anyone but Xanadu (The largest private state in the world)Citizen Kane, kubla khan but with the symbolisms of Syrinx pentagram temples in Rush universe. In the background you can see the debris of the cover of "Farewell to Kings" with fireplaces included... And so we're off.
