This striking concert poster was designed by artist Brian Ewing for Pearl Jam's performance at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, Netherlands on June 17th, 2014.
The sepia-toned artwork features Charles Darwin as its central figure, with a metallic overlay of a gibbon skeleton creating a haunting anatomical juxtaposition. This visual combination powerfully references evolutionary themes while creating a memento mori effect.
Surrounding Darwin is a dense collage of vintage-style advertisements, carnival and sideshow text snippets, and cryptic phrases including "GOD KNOWS," "THE DEVIL," and references to "secret societies." The overall aesthetic blends scientific history with a mysterious carnival atmosphere.
This design draws inspiration from Pearl Jam's song "Do The Evolution" and concepts of natural selection. The artwork was later released as an art print titled "Evolution," appealing to both Pearl Jam collectors and enthusiasts of thought-provoking artistic commentary on human development and mortality.
