In celebration of Phish’s legendary two-night festival, *The Great Went* (August 16-17, 1997), artist Jim Pollock set up a live printmaking shop on-site. Fans eagerly gathered as prints were hand-pulled, with many receiving their copies before the ink had even dried.
This original linocut print features a whimsical fish-human hybrid striding confidently beneath a midnight blue sky. With walking boots, scales, and a surreal presence, the creature moves beneath a crescent moon and scattered stars. The deep blue ink contrasts sharply against bold black linework, highlighting the distinctive texture and artistry of traditional linocut printmaking.
Each print is individually hand-pulled, making every piece unique. Signed by the artist in the lower right corner, this limited run of 100 prints quickly became a sought-after collector’s item. Due to high demand, bootleg copies—particularly of print #22—circulate widely, so buyers should exercise caution.
This rare print merges folk art charm with countercultural energy, making it a must-have for collectors of Phish memorabilia and traditional printmaking alike. Each impression carries slight variations inherent to the hand-printing process, ensuring no two prints are exactly the same.
