About this poster
This diptych for 311's performances at The Wiltern in Los Angeles creates a complete narrative across two connected concert posters. The paired images tell a story through their shared cosmic aesthetic and consistent design elements.
The first poster (left) introduces our protagonist: an astronaut whose spacesuit has been ingeniously reimagined as a walking soundsystem, complete with speakers, equalizers, and a detailed vintage boombox control panel. The helmet contains what appears to be a fiery celestial body, creating a visual link to the second poster.
The second poster (right) pulls back to reveal the larger alien world this sound-exploring astronaut inhabits. We see the same figure, now dwarfed by the landscape, standing among towering crystal-blue mountains beneath an enormous swirling sun or planet that mirrors the one seen in the helmet of the first poster.
The two pieces share a consistent color palette: deep purples and blues in the cosmic background, brilliant oranges and yellows in the celestial elements, and electric blues in the crystalline structures. The astronaut's orange flight suit provides a point of visual continuity between the two images.
Together, they create a complete visual story - from the detailed, personal scale of the music-making space explorer to the vast, alien landscape they explore.
