About this poster
Once upon a time, there was a print titled “Forget.” I illustrated this piece when I was 18 years old; it was the second poster I ever did where I did the linework by hand and then scanned it into Photoshop to color it. This was then digitally printed and released as a modest edition of 10, mainly sold to my friends in college. It wouldn’t take long for me to move in a different direction stylistically, and for this print to get buried under the mass of new work I’ve produced since 2015. I really hadn’t given it much thought in the last few years, but it appeared in the retrospective show and in the book as well… which was enough to get some chatter going around this particular long-forgotten piece.
With the book release and everything, I wanted to do something to give some of these old pieces a final moment in the spotlight—that was the goal with the dust jacket posters. “Forget” didn’t get the dust jacket treatment, but I thought it still deserved to have its own moment alongside his brothers. The Photoshop file is long gone, so there was never any chance of a screenprint edition in its full glory. But I still had the original 18x24 pen-and-ink drawing, which was enough to get me where I wanted to go. I scanned that in, lightly touched it, and took it to print yesterday.
So, without further ado, I’m happy to present “Forget, Too,” AKA “Burny Burny House.” It is a piece that is very near and dear to me, and apparently holds some significance to some of you as well. There are three editions: one on regular off-white paper, one on a toned “paper bag” paper stock, and one on black. The black variant features a very cool glow-in-the-dark layer printed over the design; I'm not gonna tell you what it is, but you might be able to figure it out. Looks insane once you turn out the lights.
It’s been a helluva weekend, a helluva last few months, helluva last few years. High highs, low lows. I’m eternally grateful to this group and all of you who have ridden those waves and are still sticking around—the support means more now than ever, truly. I could not be more thankful or more appreciative of it all. I'm not sure what the future is gonna hold in regards to posters, but… we’ll see it when it comes. I'm sure it's gonna be great.
