About this poster

This poster features a jackalope - a rabbit-like creature with antlers - at the center, surrounded by swirling, neon-colored patterns and shapes. The jackalope is encased within a glass dome, with smoking candles and crystal-like structures in the background. The poster advertises upcoming tour dates and locations for the band "Kitchen Dwellers".

I've been seeing Kitchen Dwellers since 2015, when they played at my original stomping grounds - Sterling Stage in Central NY. I've seen them play all over this country in bars and music halls and everything in between. When I was asked to create this week's show print for them it was one of those "I gotta call my mom" moments. ( Bonnie Savage being as big of a fan as I am)

Their newest releases including Pendulum and The Crow and the Raven make appearances in this design, but I really wanted to focus on an overall earthy but mellowly psychedelic vibe - to match the energy of the music they bestow upon us.

I imagine this jackalope as a curio specimen, poised with the travelling fortune tellers's pendulum, waiting to be used to divine the upcoming path. It's set on a table lit by ethereal candles and dressed with a tasseled velvet tablecloth, with the heady scents of sandalwood and vetiver. I wanted it to feel like you stepped through the curtained entrance of a wooden vardo wagon and into another world; a world of wonder and knowledge.

In reality we don't know what the future will bring, we all swing like diamonds on a pendulum, and that's ok. Accepting the present and the things that we cannot change, while embracing the power to change the things that we do have authority of, is the pinnacle of peace.

So if you're headed to go see these fine fellows play their music, find the peace to surrender to their musical flow, and enjoy the time you spend in the company around you. Use that time to find a core of magic within you that extends beyond this realm and the reality of our mondaine world. Oh, and stop by the merch booth to check these out and grab a print.

We all have power within us, and now is the time to use that power for the utmost purpose- loving and understanding those around us. - Sadie May
