About this poster
At the base of this "Poster From The Past," two tree trunks intertwine as they rise. Above, the trunks transform into human figures from the thighs up: one male and one female. Their lips are gently touching; he cradles her face while holding a guitar, wrapping his arms around the sound box, and she delicately places her fingers on the fretboard.
On October 2nd, in 1969, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, along with Blues Image and John Sebastian, were scheduled to take the stage at The Fillmore West in beautiful San Francisco. However, CSNY had to cancel their performances after the tragic car accident that claimed the life of Christine Hinton, Crosby's girlfriend. Instead, Janis Joplin and Santana stepped in. The following nights featured these dance/concerts at the Winterland Arena, complete with a spectacular light show by Little Princess #109. This iconic rock poster, number #194 in the BG Fillmore series, was created by the late Greg Irons. It marks his final contribution to the series and was printed twice.
The 3rd printing is on smooth glossy stock and has a Wolfgang's Vault notation in the lower right hand margin. It omits the white balloon and was printed in 2010 by the Bill Graham Archives LLC in a 500 copy run. This reprint measures 23" x 37".
