About this poster
This is a letterpress variant of "End of the Trail" by EMEK, released in 2019 through Gabba Gallery. The image, which evolved from EMEK's 2006 Ween concert poster, is rendered here in a 9.5 x 12.75 inch format using the distinctive letterpress printing technique. As EMEK describes the piece: "after mankind has ruined the planet, a weary and battered old robot mourns atop the last great tree stump, but growing out of his medicine bag are the seeds to start over..."
The intricately detailed mechanical figures are crafted in brass tones, their complex array of gears and pistons brought to life through the tactile quality of letterpress printing. The deforested landscape of cut stumps and the detailed, cratered moon backdrop gain additional depth through this printing process.
