About this poster
The inspiration for this one came as a memory of growing up a 90’s kid at the local park pool on a blistering summer afternoon. I can still remember the smell of sunscreen, the taste of the bomb pop I just slayed during pool break, the sting of my last failed front flip on my back… and a song floating in the air. I’d love to say it was a DMB song, but full transparency it was more realistically: Smashmouth - All Star > Sister Hazel - All for You > Lenny Kravitz - Fly Away, on an infinite loop. Remember that year, such a good one? Due to the timing, it’s almost certain Dave was also in the mix with the early big hits but not recognized by my young ears yet. This particular park had enough regulars where they let people bring their own inflatable, and since people were there every day, there was kind of a loner pile in the corner, where they all just got left. This illustration is both a tribute to all the fun that’s embraced in the DMB community and songs, and a fond, warm memory I still hold very dear to this day.
