We’ve lived through enough cruelty and inhumanity in this iron era, and I feel compelled to emphasize the spirit of renewal this new year. Astraea is associated with the constellation Virgo, and in the renaissance – indeed, throughout history – embodies the ethos of spiritual and moral renewal. She appears to humanity in the guise of kindness and care, gentleness and reasonable consideration.
