"KCRW is a little non-profit radio station at a small community college in Santa Monica California… yet it has changed the face of music around the world. Because the DJs don’t have to answer to corporate sponsors or record company pressure, the DJs played what they wanted… And so during that process they discovered so many new bands that changed the world of music… it was no secret that KCRW influenced KROQ which influenced MTV (but also KCRW programming directly influenced much of the good parts of MTV) which influenced youth culture around the world. Radiohead, Thievery Corporation, Joe Frank, Coldplay, Norah Jones, Sigur Ros, Damien Rice, and David Gray are amongst tons of other bands that KCRW discovered or promoted in the early days, as well as trip-hop and electronic music and ambient and hip-hop and so much more. To me they were the most important station on radio. End Rant."
