About this poster
I’m thrilled with the positive response the illustration has received as it might seem different to a few of my recent poster releases. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is a VERY different film and thus deserves a fresh approach. I don’t feel a poster for this film needs a ‘dramatic’ angle or even necessarily ‘real’ perspective or depth. The film has essentially a ‘cartoon’ aesthetic and the flat approach that I chose was to take it a step away from reality and emphasize its weird silliness. I try to get into the spirit of each film I take on so it means playing with different ways of thinking. It would be a shame to apply the exact same way of working to every project without considering the tone of each film.
