About this poster

The central image is a man standing and woman kneeling next to an old Victrola. The man is "Big Daddy" Tom Donahue who was a prominent underground disc jockey during the 1960's. I believe the girl ion the poster is his actual wife Rachael. At the time of the concerts one and later another radio station in San Francisco began catering to the counterculture by playing a wide variety of music not found on top 40 radio stations. Tom Donahue was one of the leading disc jockeys in the movement to broaden the playlist of material available to the listeners. He is most remembered for his work at KMPX and KSAN....Jive 95. He sadly died of a heart attack on April 28, 1975, at the age of 46. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996 as a non-performer, one of only three disc jockeys to receive that honor.
