About this poster
In Queensland where this concert takes place Sugar cane growers seasonally burn the cane fields.
Cane grows very tall in good growing regions - 3 meters/10 feet tall.
Where possible the cane is burned or "fired" before harvesting to remove the dead leaf material and some of the waxy coating. The fire burns at quite high temperatures but is over very quickly so that the cane and its sugar content are not harmed. If you drive by a field being "fired" in the evening it looks so dramatic.
Everyone seems to think the burning field somehow' s about how we View the USA. It's nothing about that it's simply about northern Queensland where fields Of sugar cane are "fired" regularly. Just a nice dramatic image that's all.
Pearl jam asked us to reference Australia in our images and I'd hate for anyone to get the wrong impression.
