About this poster
The original postcard measuring 5 1/64 x 6 31/32” is FD-82-OPC-A. It omitted the lettering on the skull and does not have the ticket outlet strip at the bottom. The reverse side features Bob Schnepf’s groovy Place Stamp Here drawing printed, in cool mint green! Of interesting note, the image of the skull on the poster appears whiter when compared to the postcard, which looks to have more shading, almost gray or silver at a glance. I had the poster long before I obtained the postcard, and during those ensuing years I used to wonder why mine didn’t have that cool shading. I didn’t know if the postcard had more apparent shading due to the image being reduced during the printing process. Having seen a number of proof sheets of other FD posters from this period, it’s now evident to me that the posters and postcards were printed separately by the printer. If you’ve ever wondered why the skull on your postcard for FD-82 isn’t as white as the poster, perhaps this explains it.
