About this poster
"I was asked by @mymorningjacket to create the poster for their show at the Hollywood Cemetery last night, and am pretty stoked on what we came up with. The original concept was to have an alien ship crash land in the middle of the cemetery, but after playing around with it for a while, we thought it would be cooler to play off the idea of us landing on an alien planet, and sort of re-create the vibe of the cemetery, but out of coral / plants / and rock formations. My first rendition of it had a much louder color palette and more pulpy type, like the cheap dime store sci-fi magazines of the 30's and 40's. That version was cool, but ultimately everyone decided that it might not be the right feel, so we pivoted to something more in the vein of early science fiction cinema, like A Trip to the Moon, and changed up the type treatment. I'll probably make a separate post with the original version for process heads that might be interested in comparing the two, plus I really dug the type on the original version. Thanks to @rokn18 for bringing me in on this one, and @vahalla for the killer print job. I'll have AP copies available in my store next week, there's a standard version on French True White and a variant on foil that has the teal screen dropped, so its all warm colors and has a "sunrise" vibe to it." - RB
