"The great thing about art is, regardless of what the artist intends the piece to represent, the viewer can still formulate their own opinion. Art is meant to make you FEEL something and that is a very individualized experience.
The giant octopus made of flowers embodies the earth. Global catastrophic events seem to be on the rise and carbon emission levels aren’t helping. The solution isn’t clear and easy. We as humans will make mistakes on our journey to a greener earth but each mistake is a learning experience that brings us closer to positive outcomes. If we don’t rise to change, our decision will be made for us. In the immortal words of the late George Carlin, “The planet is fine, the people are fucked”.
The floating character in the suit represents the corporate greed of big oil as they pull record profit. Regardless of their wealth they will one day be returned to the earth.
There are plenty of Easter eggs floating around. In the upper right you’ll find the space monkey capsule. George Jefferson represents the future. He is crying because the future looks bleak unless we can diminish our carbon footprint. The steps are littered with graffiti with song titles, date, location, etc. There's an inside joke that only the band would understand." - Dave Foral
