About this poster
The poster had just one pre-concert official printing, with 1,300 total issued. 1000 were printed before the shows with another 300 after the shows. Printed on very thin light brown paper, they are brown on both sides. In 1995 a printing plate was discovered with “18(2)” and the “1725 Washington Street, San Francisco (415) 673-3050” address appearing on the bottom left, suggesting it was reprinted. Upon close examination of the plate it was evident it had never been used. Apparently FD-18 didn’t make the cut for the first 8 Family Dog series posters reprinted, in November 1966. When it was reprinted white vellum stock was used, and a “No. 18-2” notation with the “639 Gough St. San Francisco Calif. 94102” appears in the lower right corner. These Gough St. addressed posters were printed beginning in February 1967. There were three variants of the handbill distributed, and pictured here is variant OHB-C measuring 8 15/32 x 10 31/32”. It is signed by Stanley Mouse in his classic over-under signature – Mouse’s signature is over his running mouse doodle. The FD 18 poster is pictured on page 96 of the Art of Rock book.
