Caterpillar is a fully digital artwork created entirely in Adobe Photoshop, from the initial sketch through the final rendered color illustration.
Inspired by the fascinating life cycle of caterpillars, the piece highlights these remarkable creatures, which possess six true legs near their head along with fleshy gripping appendages known as prolegs that help them cling to leaves and branches. As caterpillars grow, they undergo multiple molts, shedding their outer skin to accommodate their rapidly expanding bodies.
The artist later expanded on the concept with the release of Caterpillar, a fine art print featuring a similar design and visual theme.
