About this poster
Referencing the discovery of gold at Sutter’s Mill, this vintage poster purportedly turns the gold prospector into a marijuana prospector, not panning for gold but rather separating seeds from the grass via his ‘pan’. Kneeling on the corner curb labeled ‘Van Ness Ave Sutter St., this poster makes it clear where the concerts were to be held: the famed Avalon Ballroom.
The 1st printing poster has a 1/64" blue dot in the right margin, level with the bottom "Y" of the Family Dog logo. It was printed before the concert and measures 14" x 20".
The post-concert 2nd printing does not display the blue dot that is found on the 1st printings. It measures 13 15/16" x 20".
