About this poster
The Flying eyeball, stands for omniscience, it means he who understands the secret can see all, and know everything. This theme is Masonic (it appears on the one dollar bill) and was carried through history from Egyptian times and even before. The modernized Flying Eyeball ikon originated in World War II, as nose art for bombers and recon planes. After the Korean war the Surfers picked it up and Hot Rodders started painting it on street rods in the striping style ala Von Dutch. In the early 1970s Alton Kelley started to rave about it, because Rick Griffin was doing Jimmy Hendrix posters for Bill Graham with a stylized version.
