About this poster

One of the greatest posters of all time hit theaters 30 years ago when Paramount was promoting Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan. The one-sheet featured Jason Voorhees slashing through the famous “I Love New York” art created to promote tourism in the state of New York back in 1977. It took an already iconic image and made it even more iconic.

Now, 30 years later, Marc Schoenbach hearkens back to the Jason Takes Manhattan art by giving Joe Dante’s Gremlins 2: The New Batch the iconic poster it has always deserved.

The new art was created (perfectly) for this weekend’s New York Comic Con and shows a Gremlin tearing through the aforementioned “I Love New York” poster. It also ties into the setting of Dante’s classic which ends with all of the Gremlins singing Frank Sinatra/Liza Minnelli’s “New York, New York”.
