This is a distinctive wood panel variant of "End of the Trail" by EMEK, produced in 2014 through 'Prints On Wood'. The image, which evolved from EMEK's 2006 Ween concert poster, takes on new resonance when presented on 3/4" sustainable birch wood. As EMEK describes the piece: "after mankind has ruined the planet, a weary and battered old robot mourns atop the last great tree stump, but growing out of his medicine bag are the seeds to start over..."
Measuring 10 x 10 inches (25.4 x 25.4 cm), this version features a natural gloss finish that allows the wood grain to show through beneath the artwork. The mechanical figures rendered in brass tones create a compelling contrast with the organic substrate. Each piece is signed and numbered on the front by EMEK and includes a carved keyhole mount on the back for display.
The sustainable birch wood printing surface adds another dimension to the environmental themes present in the work, with the natural wood grain interacting with the printed elements to create a unique dialogue between medium and message.
